Method of Recruitment & Syllabus

A. Mode of Examination:
The examination will be held in Kolkata center only and in two successive stages, viz.:

  1. Written Test (Objective Type – OMR Based)

    • Total Marks: 200

    • Number of Questions: 100 multiple-choice questions

    • Marks per Question: 2 marks each

    • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect/wrong answer

    • Language of Question Paper: English

    • Duration: 1½ (one and a half) hours

  2. Personality Test

    • Total Marks: 40

    • Venue: WBMCSC Office, Kolkata

    • Shortlisting Ratio: Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies, based on Written Test merit and verification of original documents

    • Minimum Qualifying Marks:

      • General Candidates: 45%

      • OBC & EWS Candidates: 40%

      • SC & ST Candidates: 35%

    • Relaxation: The Commission may relax qualifying marks for any or all categories at its discretion
