A. Mode of Examination:
The examination will be held in Kolkata center only and in two successive stages, viz.:
Written Test (Objective Type – OMR Based)
Total Marks: 200
Number of Questions: 100 multiple-choice questions
Marks per Question: 2 marks each
Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect/wrong answer
Language of Question Paper: English
Duration: 1½ (one and a half) hours
Personality Test
Total Marks: 40
Venue: WBMCSC Office, Kolkata
Shortlisting Ratio: Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies, based on Written Test merit and verification of original documents
Minimum Qualifying Marks:
General Candidates: 45%
OBC & EWS Candidates: 40%
SC & ST Candidates: 35%
Relaxation: The Commission may relax qualifying marks for any or all categories at its discretion
Absenteeism: Candidates absent on the date of Interview/Personality Test will have their candidature cancelled without further reference
Final Merit List: Prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the Written Examination (200) and Personality Test (40).

Last date for registration for online application and the process of submission of application must be completed by 08.07.2025.
Diploma Certificate in Mechanical Engineering from the State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or equivalent.
Note: Candidates with a degree in Mechanical Engineering may also apply.

English & Reasoning: Standard graduate-level.
